Villa del Palmar Flamingos
Hotel Information: This Nuevo Vallarta hotel/time-share/condominium resort attracts families seeking hotel amenities as well as the convenience provided by apartment-like suites that include cooking facilities.
Amenity highlights: Flanked by gardens and sundecks and offering ocean views, a heated, two-level, freeform pool contains waterfalls, shelves for lounge chairs, and a children's section. Illuminated by a firepit after dark, a half-moon spa tub accommodates 30 guests. Boogie boards, snorkeling gear, kayaks, and windsurfers are available for rent. Independent operators offer horseback riding, personal watercraft, and parasailing on the beach.
Insider tip: The shopping/dining village of Bucerias north of the resort can be reached by walking approximately 2 km (1.25 mi) along the beach rather than driving 7 km (4.5 mi) on the highway.
The resort offers 163 guest suites in eight-story, tan, Spanish Colonial-style buildings ornamented with blue-tile domes, red-tile roofs, and exposed wood beams. Buildings form a U shape facing the Bay of Banderas and flanking a central garden courtyard and freeform pool. Balconies or ground-floor terraces are semi-enclosed for privacy and have ceiling fans and dining sets. Views are of the bay and ocean beyond.
Villa Del Palmar Flamingos suites also have kitchens or kitchenettes. Except for junior suites, all suites also include washer/dryers. Decor and furnishings feature tan-marble floors and bathrooms, dining sets, contemporary Mexican-style furniture, blue and yellow fabrics, and 27-inch flat-screen televisions. Wood-paddle ceiling fans offer a cooling alternative to suites' air conditioning. All but junior suites permit dial-up Internet access. DVD players and DVDs are available for rent.
