Hotel Information: The Westin Resort and Spa attracts both couples and families. The hotel was designed by architect Javier Sordo Madaleno in a monumental style, with huge swatches of color (mango, bright-yellow, vivid-pink) and large, airy public spaces, including a hall lined by blue-tile waterfalls, shops, and fanciful, colorful animal statues from Oaxaca.
Amenity highlights: Palms create a light-and-shadow mosaic on four lagoon-style pools containing garden islands. The activities pool features a swim-up bar, jetted section, and tile lounges, as does an adults' pool. Another pool caters to children, and the fourth is for families. A sand section by the beach features curtained, wood-platform rental cabanas with cushioned teak lounges for 3-6 guests. Nikki Beach Restaurant includes a sand section with sunbathing beds.
Insider tip: Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta maintains a fenced-in nursery on the beach for hatching endangered-turtle eggs during the nesting season. When turtles hatch (July-January), guests assist in releasing them to the sea.
This Puerto Vallarta resort offers 280 guestrooms and suites in a three-section building of 8-13 stories. Balconies or patios furnished with two-chair dining sets provide garden/partial-ocean or full ocean views. Westin's signature all-white Heavenly Beds comprise foot-thick pillowtop mattresses, triple sheeting, down-filled blankets, polished-cotton down comforters, and multiple pillows including neck-rolls. Decor and furnishings include floors of terra-cotta tiles and faux stone, white walls, bright pastel ceilings, contemporary prints on walls, upholstered headboards, and honey-colored-and-wrought-iron furniture including a desk/dining table with cushioned, fabric-draped chairs. Ceiling fans and air conditioning provide cooling alternatives. Terry-cloth bathrobes supply lounging comfort. High-speed and wireless Internet access is available for surcharges. Each room and suite contains two dual-line telephones, one cordless.
Guests of Royal Beach Club rooms on the top two floors (12, 13) enjoy access to an exclusive 12th-floor, panoramic-view lounge with a television and dining terraces where a complimentary breakfast buffet and complimentary evening hot/cold appetizers and self-serve cocktails are offered daily.
